As the Art Director and Designer, Amélie is responsible for curating compelling layouts that bring the magazine’s content to life. She collaborates closely with the editor, photographers, publisher and sales to ensure every issue is visually engaging and enhances the golfing experience for readers across Canada. As the Production Manager, she paginates the publication and prepares files for print according to the printer’s settings.

For nearly 20 years, Calypso Design has been responsible for the design of this iconic Whistler-based publication. Distributed in the Sea-to-Sky corridor, ML exists to connect people from all walks of life to the magic of the mountains. We’ve won multiple awards over the years, including Best Art Direction in Canada at the National Magazine Awards.

In 2021, as the brand grew, we launched a Rocky Mountains sister publication. Distributed in Jasper, Banff, Revelstoke, Golden and Banff, this magazine inspires mountain lovers to get out there through compelling designs, inspiring texts and stunning photography.

ML Blue is the first print publication of the Mountain Life brand. Born on a chairlift, the idea grew and grew and in 2011, Calypso Design started looking after its design, art direction and production management and successfully elevated its appearance.

As the creative director of this French-only magazine distributed exclusively in Quebec, Amélie carefully curates a visual and editorial identity that resonates with the audience. Her approach emphasizes collaboration with local artists and writers, ensuring that each issue reflects the unique cultural nuances of Quebec. She oversees the design elements, from typography to layout, fostering a cohesive aesthetic that is both engaging and representative of Quebec's vibrant creative landscape.

Amélie leads creative initiatives for Mountain Life Media, providing premium branding and visual identity. She also creates designs for retail products on the online store such as t-shirts, hats, mugs, posters, etc.

Working closely with the owner, we developed a brand identity for puff prior to its launch.

The innovative packaging created 2024 helped the product stand out on the shelves.

We provide puff with graphic design services, resizing their ads for a variety of outdoor publications.

To stay current, we frequently refresh the photography and content on posters and other print projects for puff.

We researched fabrics and gathered intel on colour in order to select 6 trendy colour swatches and names for the products to go in production.

Calypso Design is designing the Ecological Inventory and Network report for the City of Vancouver and previously designed their Urban Forest Strategy. The work includes the creation of compelling infographics, flowing the report’s content, designing tables and sourcing photography.

The 136-pages Biodiversity Conservation Strategy for the City of Surrey was designed by us in 2013.

We designed the Tree Regulations Toolkit as well as the Green Infrastructure Network Guide for Metro Vancouver.

We designed the Urban Forest Management Strategy for the City of New Westminster in 2015.

We produce brochures annually for Extremely Canadian, creating design compositions that are artful and provide brand enhancement through design.

We love to work on these unusual projects, wrapping the new Creekside gondolas or the Blackcomb Mountain ones with graphics that pack a punch, elevating the brand and driving visits to the website.

Over the course of 5 years, we worked closely with pro-skier Chad Sayers to create a beautiful tribute to his life and career. Published by Rocky Mountain Books in 2022, the book has been very well received by the mountain community and beyond.

This wildlife photography book is a family project completed in 2024. Amelie worked with her cousin, Maxime Légaré-Vézina, a renowned Quebec-based photographer to create a beautiful coffee-table book that he self-published. As the art director and designer on the project, I selected images (not an easy feat!) and laid out the chapters, stories, captions, covers.
